My Story

Hi everyone, I’m sleeping rough on Thursday night in Oxford to raise awareness and funds for homelessness.

I went to University in Oxford, and homelessness was/is rife. When we went back to our warm student rooms, many were settling down in shop doorways and became familiar faces. 🏫💔

I grew up in Barnsley, South Yorkshire, and used to be scared of the ‘man in the park.’

In 2024, the situation is critical.

Recent figures from Shelter show that over 271,000 people in England are homeless, including 130,000 children (2023) (with about 3000 of those people on the street vs temporary accommodation or hostels).

Whilst it’s a big number, it’s not so big that we couldn’t come together to help end it, with the right understanding of root causes - from mental health and substance misuse through to how we care for our veterans and social housing. 💡🤝

We’re working with CEO sleepout UK, planning a hackathon with business leaders and policy makers, to see how we can collectively start to tackle the issue.

This aligns with our desire to balance profit with purpose at Uuna, as part of becoming a BCorp. 🌍

I’d be so very grateful if you could sponsor me the cost of a cup of coffee ☕, if you have the time.

Thank you for your kindness, your generosity, and your commitment to making the world a better place for everyone.
