My Story

I'm joining compassionate people from across Darlington for an unforgettable night beneath the stars. I will be sleeping out in Mowden Park Arena, raising funds for people facing adverse poverty and homelessness in the Darlington area.

Thank you for your kindness, your generosity, and your commitment to making the world a better place for everyone.

I work as a Quality Engineering Specialist at 3M UK in Aycliffe as a day job, and on an evening I work as a peer support facilitator, running groups both here in the North East, and Nationally via Zoom. We help men struggling with their mental health and getting them talking about their struggles, whilst creating a community of friendship and support.

75% of UK suicides are committed by men. Over 70% of those who find themselves homeless are men. 96% of those housed in prison are men.

Whilst we recognise all people as equal, and respect inequality occurs for women in other respects and contexts, we understand the need for men to have male orientated support. Without this, we can't get men to open up, accept vulnerability, and allow the honesty that erodes the toxic masculinity that prevents men from opening up, and talking about their problems. We are here to listen.

Your support is greatly appreciated to allow us to keep listening. Help us maintain the network of face to face support we currently have from as North as Blyth, to as South as Darlington, as East as Hartlepool, to as West as Stanhope, and a Zoom group providing nationwide support.

Anything you can donate is greatly recieved and appreciated.

Thank you.

Ciaran.
