CEO Sleepout Bristol 2025
Henry Chesher
My Story
Hello, my name’s Henry, and I’m a Project Coordinator at Help Bristol’s Homeless — a unique community-driven charity dedicated to helping people rebuild their lives. Our mission is simple yet powerful: we convert shipping containers into safe, warm, single-occupancy micro-flats, offering dignity, security, and a genuine fresh start to individuals who have experienced homelessness. Our flagship site on Spring Street in Bedminster currently houses 33 residents, each supported through our tailored wellbeing programme to move toward long-term stability, employment, and independent living within 6 to 12 months.
On 17th November, I’ll be taking part in the CEO Sleepout at the Bristol County Ground, joining others across Bristol to raise vital funds and awareness for people sleeping rough. Spending a night under the stars is only a glimpse into the hardship many face daily, but it’s a powerful reminder of why this work matters so deeply. The issue of homelessness is close to my heart, and I see first-hand the difference compassion, community, and practical support can make — from someone’s first night in a converted home to their first steps back into independence.
Homelessness continues to rise in Bristol due to the cost-of-living crisis and the shortage of affordable housing. Between 2023 and 2024 Bristol saw an increase of 817 reported homeless, an increase of 17% year to year. Our work at Help Bristol’s Homeless has never been more urgent — and every single donation counts.
Your support helps us keep transforming lives: turning cold steel into warm homes, isolation into connection, and hope into lasting change. As the nights get frosty, your generosity helps ensure someone else doesn’t have to face them alone.
Thank you for your kindness, your empathy, and your belief in making Bristol a fairer, more compassionate city for all.
