My Story

I’m taking part in a sleep-out - but for me, it’s just one night of minor inconvenience. I’ll go home the next morning, have a shower, and get into a warm bed. For people genuinely living on the streets, that’s not an option. Every night, they face the cold or unstable, often unfit, housing conditions.

In Bristol alone, around 4,600 people – including children – don’t have access to permanent housing. As a mum to a five-year-old, I can’t begin to imagine not knowing I could keep him warm and safe. It’s just not ok.

I live adjacent to an incredible part of Bristol – Stokes Croft. For those that don’t know the area, it’s a vibe – incredible food and drink, and the absolute best street art in the city. It also brings you headlong with the challenges Bristol is facing on homelessness and it’s confronting and quite frankly heartbreaking.

Anyone that knows me, knows I do not exercise, there has never been a whip round shaking anyone down for a bit of cash for a marathon or sponsored cycle… I have been biding my time. The time is now.

I’m supporting Caring in Bristol, an incredible charity working to prevent and relieve homelessness. They provide early prevention advice, community-based support, and essential emergency and food-led projects.
