My Story
Next March, I'll be taking part in CEO Sleepout Kent alongside Tara Flynn, my co-founder at SHIFTwithin CIC, to raise vital funds for Oasis Domestic Abuse Service.
I have wanted to take part in a sleepout for a long time. Like many people, I walk past someone sleeping on the street and feel compassion, empathy, and powerlessness. For me, this is particularly pronounced when she is a woman, as someone I love very much has experienced homelessness and found herself sleeping on the streets.
This fundraising matters because there are clear links between homelessness and domestic abuse. Leaving an abusive relationship can mean losing a home, losing financial security and a support network, being forced to flee quickly, and having to choose between staying and surviving. The period during and after leaving can be the most dangerous time. Without specialist services, survivors can be left with impossible choices and increased risk.
Oasis Domestic Abuse Service provides essential, specialist support to people subjected to domestic abuse. They help individuals and families move towards safety and stability. If you are able to donate, you will be helping Oasis continue this work for people in Kent who need it most.
Any amount makes a difference, and sharing this page is also a real form of support.
Thank you,
Kim
