My Story

I'm joining compassionate people from across York for an unforgettable night beneath the stars. I will be sleeping out in York Stadium, raising funds for people facing adverse poverty and homelessness in the York area.

As a volunteer for Carecent, one of the charity partners for the sleepout, I understand what a vital contribution even a small donation can make. Carecent provide a place of warmth and safety, where those who are homeless or socially excluded can get a warm drink, food, a shower and a change of clothes (amongst many other things). I also see just how simple it can be to find yourself in incredibly difficult circumstances without an obvious route out. The simple act of caring can mean an awful lot.
